TransDyno SF-66

High-performance, Modular Transmission Dynamometer

Reduce Comebacks!

Studies consistently show that load testing dramatically reduces comebacks. The SuperFlow TransDyno SF-66K monitors and tests virtually every aspect of transmission performance under simulated road load conditions before actually installing the transmission in the vehicle--including main pressure, up to 11 additional pressures, input and output speeds, input torque, output torque, PRNDL switches, fluid flow, pressure switches, and the parking pawl.

When equipped with SuperFlow's Transmission Data Acquisition & Control (TDAC) or SuperShift Automatic Electronic Shift (AES) systems, the SF-66K can test nearly any hydraulically and electrically shifted transmission, foreign and domestic, in front-wheel drive (FWD), rear-wheel drive (RWD), and all-wheel drive (AWD)*.

*Some of these tests may require optional equipment.

Modular Design Increases Flexibility

What's the TransDyno SF-66K advantage? Its unique modular design allows you to purchase only the equipment you need for your specific transmission testing operation. The basic unit comes with operator console, input drive, transmission support, and at least one Power Absorption Unit (PAU). So if your operation strictly tests inline transmissions in a test cell, all you need is the console, an input drive base unit, and a single PAU. To handle FWD and AWD transmission work, you basically add power absorber modules as needed.

SuperFlow SF-66K

Heavy-duty. Modular. Designed for a wide range of light-duty to medium-duty transmissions.

Test Most Modern Medium-duty to Light-duty Transmissions

The SF-66K handles most foreign and domestic FWD, RWD and AWD (1) transmissions including the Allison 1000/2000. Its rotating head stock can adapt to FWD transverse transmissions including Honda® (2) and Mitsubishi® and longitudinal transmissions such as the Chrysler 42LE. The rotating head stock also makes it easy to switch between different test configurations

Input Drive and Transmission Support

To accommodate longitudinal and transverse transmissions, the supports used for both input drive and transmission will pivot. The SF-66K can be powered with an inexpensive gas engine or an electric motor for clean, quiet operation and precise control. The 200-hp gas engine input drive handles most inline transmissions, T-drive transmissions, or transaxles (3). The direct-drive electric motor-available in 40, 60, 75 and 100-hp sizes-tests all these applications and more. And, its variable speed motor tests in either rotational direction.

Power Absorption Unit Supports Quiet, Rapid Test Sequences

The SF-66K PAUs apply load to the output shafts of the transmission to simulate road conditions such as hills, air resistance, and towed weight. The standard air-cooled eddy-current PAU is virtually maintenance-free and extremely reliable. Unlike hydrostatic load units, the SF-66K has no oil, water, or filter to maintain and just one moving part. The PAU allows you to perform true full-throttle, load-induced downshifts. It can load test transmissions all the way to first gear and maintain them--even when the drive system is set at full throttle. The trunnion-mounted eddy current (EC) absorber dynamically measures the output torque of the transmission. It's also equipped with an air-actuated brake rotor and caliper to test stall force. All PAU configurations can be adjusted vertically and side to side to accept a wide range of test transmissions.

SuperFlow TDAC (Transmission Data Acquisition & Control)

Automated testing with TDAC improves throughput, helps eliminate human error

Improve your productivity with faster test sequences. Instill customer confidence and loyalty; then back it up with warranties you can confidently stand behind.

Record and compile all test results and identify any failure patterns or trends before they escalate into bigger problems. Modify test parameters--you can do it all with TDAC, an exclusive, proprietary testing software system that controls input speed, output load, features a proprietary anti-stacking mode for testing hydraulic transmissions, and commands and controls up to 16 pulse-width modulated (PWM) solenoids.

The duty cycle can be set at 1% increments; frequency can be specified from 0 to 2,000 Hz. Shift timing reports are also available.

SF-66K Features:
  • Test all gears

  • Evaluate noise - converter, pump noise, planetary set

  • Perform hot and cold testing

  • Find leaks at all available pressure ports (cooler lines, clutch pressure taps, etc.)

  • Test shift points

  • Test front pump capacity - flow pressure

  • Test stall speed - forward, reverse

  • Measure throttle valve pressure

  • Perform automatic and manual upshift, downshift

  • Test vacuum pressure modulator

  • Test solenoid functions

  • Test converter performance (lockup, non-lockup)

  • Input and output torque

  • Internal transmission losses

  • All output shaft speeds

  • Fluid temperature and flow

  • Hydraulic function of the governor, clutch valve body and overdrive

  • And more!!

Support Subsystems

The SF-66K's air-actuated disc brake tests stall speeds. Its fluid fill and evacuation system comprises a tank, pumps, motors, flow blocks, pressure distribution manifolds, and pressure hoses. It fills and evacuates transmission fluid before and after testing. An additional system (optional) allows you to deliver and store different types of transmission fluid and quickly make the changeover between transmissions with different fluid requirements. SuperFlow can provide adapters for all modern transmissions.
