SF & IntelliTec Collaborate to Provide Cutting-edge Training

SuperFlow Technologies Group has been collaborating with IntelliTec College to conduct ongoing tours and demonstrations of the SuperFlow product family at their facility. SuperFlow Technical Support Engineer Bret Williams and Customer Service Manager Bob Baker have been working with IntelliTec Automotive Instructor Dennis Iudice to arrange the tours."
Our students see how flowbenches and engine and chassis dynamometers are manufactured, along with working demonstrations and proper dynamometer testing applications," Iudice said. "When SuperFlow posts a tour, Intellitec students sign up and usually fill the tour within 30 minutes of posting. IntelliTec is excited to be partnering with the world's largest manufacturer of dynamometers and flowbenches."

According to Dave Gorman, IntelliTec High-Performance Engine Instructor, "The flowbench is an accurate, yet surprisingly simple piece of equipment that measures airflow through cylinder heads. The information extracted from the flowbench when flowing a cylinder head can be calculated as horsepower potential. Students at IntelliTec College are required to operate the SuperFlow 600 flowbench when working on engine projects. The data students receive from the flowbench when flowing a cylinder head provides invaluable information on how to choose the correct camshaft for that particular engine application which can dictate the engine's power band, along with decisions regarding a stall converter, gearing, and even tire size. In addition," says Gorman, "students can make assessments on compression ratio, shift points, induction and exhaust systems, and horsepower potential. It's important that students are trained on this particular piece of equipment because it is the standard in speed shops."

The first class of IntelliTec's Automotive Technology Program graduated in September 2006. Most of the graduates are now working in the field at dealerships to gain more experience. Several graduates mentioned the value of their training on the SF-600 flowbench in the High-Performance Engines class: - Joe Williams currently works at Aspen Auto Clinic on weekends and was recently hired to teach automotive training at IntelliTec College. "I thought I knew engines until I took IntelliTec's High-Performance Engines class," said Joe. "Because of the SuperFlow 600 flowbench, I found 68 more horsepower in my 350 Chevrolet engine."
- Margret Lawson, who works for Heuberger Motors, mentioned, "Teacher Dave Gorman is outgoing and passionate about engines. The High-Performance Engines class turned my passion into a skill."
- Kevin McFarlin is employed at DL Stangs performance shop. He said the High-Performance Engines class changed his views about how racing engines should be designed and built. The class and SuperFlow equipment helped him understand how each component worked to maximize horsepower.
- Jim Lombard, a former aviation technician, said he knew about high-performance engines when starting at IntelliTec, but he discovered in class how much he didn't know. "No serious engine builder should ever build an engine without using SuperFlow's 600 flowbench," said Joe.

Mr. Rick Mercado, Master Automobile Technician, heads IntelliTec's automotive technician program. In November 2007, IntelliTec added the three-month High-Performance Engines program to enhance the program and provide additional skills to students, making them even more marketable. The curriculum features Engine Performance, Advanced Engine Performance, and Advanced High-Performance Engine Building.
