Modular High-performance Dynamometer Handles Broad Range of Transmission Test Work
|

A modular transmission test system that reduces comebacks by performing a broad range of dynamometer test functions for both light-duty and medium-duty transmissions, is now available from SuperFlow Technologies Group.
The TransDyno SF-66K features a unique modular design that allows you to purchase strictly what you need for specific transmission testing operations. The basic SF-66K unit comes with operator console, input drive, transmission support and at least one power absorption unit. So, if an operation strictly tests inline transmissions in a test cell, it would require just the input drive base unit and a single power absorption unit (PAU). To handle front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) transmission work, it would simply add additional power absorber modules as needed.
The SF-66K monitors and tests virtually every aspect of transmission performance, under simulated road load conditions, before the transmission is actually installed in the vehicle. This includes; main pressure, up to 11 additional pressures, input and output speeds, input torque, output torque, PRNDL switches, fluid flow, pressure switches, and the parking pawl. When equipped with SuperFlow's TDAC (Transmission Data Acquisition & Control) or SuperShift AES (Automatic Electronic Shift) systems, the SF-66K can test nearly any hydraulically and electrically shifted transmission, foreign and domestic; in front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive* configurations, including the Allison 1000/2000. Rotating head stock can also adapt to front wheel drive transverse transmissions, including Honda®* and Mitsubishi®, and longitudinal transmissions such as the Chrysler 42LE. The rotating head stock makes it easy to switch between front-wheel drive and real-wheel drive transmissions.
To accommodate longitudinal and transverse transmissions, its input drive pivots. The SF-66K can be powered with an inexpensive gas engine or an electric motor for clean, quiet operation and precise control. The 200 hp gas engine input drive handles most inline transmissions, T-drive transmissions, or transaxles*. The direct-drive electric motor - available in 40, 60, 75 and 100 hp sizes - tests all these applications and more; and its variable speed motor tests in either rotational direction.
The SF-66K power absorption units (PAUs) apply load to the output shaft(s) of the transmission to simulate road conditions such as hills, air resistance and towed weight. The PAU allows you to perform true full-throttle, load-induced downshifts. It can load test transmissions all the way to first gear and maintain them, even when the drive system is set at full throttle. The trunnion-mounted eddy-current absorber dynamically measures the output torque of the transmission. It's also equipped with an air-actuated brake rotor and caliper to test stall force. All PAU configurations can be adjusted vertically and side-to-side to accept a wide range of test transmissions. Adapters are available for all modern transmissions.
