This platen searer is specially designed for Chrysler torque converters. The searing process removes excess fibers from the friction material. Cycle time is less than 10 seconds. This is intended for use as a second step in the bonding process. The unit heats to 575?F +/- 25?F. Dies not included.

The A-103-S control system is fully automatic. A timer monitors the duration of the searing process and releases the top platen when the process is complete. Switches mounted near the safety door hinge resets the timer each time the safety door is closed (as long as the START switch is turned on). The operation of the A-103-S is as simple as opening the door, installing the friction disk to be seared, and closing the door. The platens included with the A-103-S are center drilled to accept a 3/8? bolt that will locate and hold the top and bottom platens in the correct position. The top aluminum platen is held against the upper heating plate, which transfers the heat uniformly throughout the platen.
