This power absorption unit replaces the previous hydrostatic load unit. It is available as an upgrade to most TransaDyne units in the field.

Compared with the previous load unit, the advantages of the eddy current unit are numerous:

High performance load torque capability. The new load unit is capable of up to 1,500 lb.ft. of dynamic load torque, three times as much as the standard hydrostatic load unit.

Quiet operation. The new load unit lowers noise emissions to such a degree that users can hear the transmission under test to an extent never before possible.

Infinitely variable control from no-load to full-load is accomplished with a control knob that replaces the hydrostatic pilot valve in the operator's console.

Economical, air-cooled operation. The new load unit, with its eddy current design, requires only a single-phase, 110v, 30-amp circuit for operation.

Clean, compact design allows greater operator mobility around the test stand. The overall height and weight have been reduced, improving ease of engagement to the transmission output. An optional air assist lift motor is available.

Greatly enhanced ease of maintenance and reliability. The eddy-current load unit is virtually maintenance free, with no hydrostatic oil, no filters and no leaks. Reliability (with one moving part, the flywheel assembly) is raised to a new standard.
